Below i will try to answer all your questions according to my knowledge and my situation :

 

1) Q:- What are you guys doing for food ?

Ans:- For food now we depend on our parents. because cab work is reduced due o covid-19 and i have to sit at home even if i do not want to. Due to the income of Honey, some personal expenses were coming out. But the School has been closed until month of july. Due to work from home, she is getting half salary only 2500/- Rs. and now you tell me how anyone can run his home only with 2500/- Rupees. How he can take care of his children. In the period of covid -19, we are taking all goods on loan from outside to meet the needs of the children and the home. it is just a feeling that life has become borrowed!. we can not put so much burden on our parents. because there are so many types of household expenses. I am thankful to god if our parents do not help us for food. I would probably have to live on the road at this covid -19 time.

 

2) Q:- What are other people doing for food?

Ans:- if some do not have jobs and work then Some people will be like me who are taking help from their parents, Friends or relatives. There will be some people living with money taken from outside. some people are finishing their savings. All i can say is at this pedmic time, everyone is trying to run their home in some way or the other way.

 

3) Q:- Where do people get money for food in the slum?

Ans:- According to my knowledge, slum people don't have any food issues, Because every city has  NGOs  Society they help them.they provide the grocery to needy poor peoples and also rich people, politicians donate food in slum areas to show the public. The second thing is that they have work. because they mostly do labour jobs, drive rickshaws and other small work . so in slum areas no food problem. even in lockdown period.

 

4) Q:- Do the kids have any lessons online?

Ans:- Yes, due to covid-19 school has been closed until the next govt order, so school starts online classes for next session. But some children and their families, who can not afford smart mobile phones. It is very difficult for them to attend online classes.I have 3 kids even though we can not afford a smartphone phone for kids to attend online classes.Very difficult to manage and this is an extra burden on parents.

 

5) Q:- What happens when a student cannot afford the internet ?

Ans:- There are some students whose parents have no smartphones, some who come to school for two hours to complete their work. 

 

6) Q:- The School fees you paid for your kids, will you be able to continue next school year without further fees after the lockdown?

Ans:- We paid last session pending fees to school. Now the next session is starting but we have not yet admitted our children because we have no funds for admission, books,or uniforms and other expenses.���

 

7) Q:- How do people make payments on rent and mortgages?

Ans:- God knows how people survive in this time. Because not a single help from the government. Neither the rich man has made any difference and nor has the poor man. only middle class men are in the worst condition. Because the middle man can neither become rich nor can live like a poor man. The middle man  always keeps ringing like a bell in the middle.

 

8) Q:- is the farmers strike still taking place?

Ans:- Yes, Still farmers on strike. 

 

9) Q:- What are you eating?

Ans:-  we eating only food & Medicines ( problems, our depression, mentaly stress,internal hatred and our tears).

Introduction 


It is impossible to look into the future and view the lasting impacts Covid-19 will cause on our society. However, we can look back, a little over 100 years ago the Spanish flu entered Calgary by train, coming in with soldiers returning from WW1. The death toll for the Spanish flu was 3300 in Alberta, with majority of deaths coming from First Nation communities​1.Compare this to today, April 7th 2021, the death toll of Covid-19 has reached 2002, and an end does not seem clear​2. Soon after the Spanish Flu ended, the Great Depression erupted, the fear of another collapse mirroring that of the 1930’s is prevalent. Even 100 years ago, masks were made mandatory, and multiple lockdowns were imposed, oddly we see a similar response today, indicating while other areas of medicine may have grown, our understanding on controlling pandemics remains limited. In this blog I hope to display the impacts pandemics have on the economy and how they effect charitable organizations. 
The Direct on Impact on Charities 

Charitable foundations are essential for millions around the globe, through the generosity of complete strangers, these organizations can perform miracles like provide healthcare, provide education, to other causes such as protecting our wildlife. Their impact on those dealing with Covid-19 related losses is unmeasurable, but how has the pandemic repaid them? 

As of February 2021, 8 % of charities are still temporarily closed, while 77% are operating with modifications, the rest are open as usual​3. Compared to April 2020, 55% of charities have seen a decrease in revenue, from -43% to -49%3. 26% of Canadian charities saw an increase in demand, even though majority of them either lost or remained constant for capacity, this creates a pessimistic outlook for charity leaders3. It appears Education/Health related charities have seen the largest increase in demand with a decrease in capacity3. The largest change seems to appear within the revenue sources, Event based, and major donor fundraising have decreased by 67% and 35% respectively, while Online and Federal government funding have increased by 21% and 32%3.
Who is the Average Donor and how has the Coronavirus impacted them? 

How have the lives of our supporters and their ability to provide us aid been altered? 

This brings us to the average donor profile. After the Covid 19 pandemic, roughly 44% of donors reported mainly donating to Educational purposes, with Social reasons coming in seconds at 33.9%, and Religious in the last position at only 1.8% ​4. A little over half indicated that the emotional impact was the most important factor when determining whether or not to donate,  interestingly above the “Importance of the fundraising’s cause which only 26.8% of the sample reported 4. Lastly when characterizing the average donor contributing to international charity, Rajan et al reported the individuals as “Women, volunteers, and individuals of non-Canadian origin, with higher income, higher education, higher level of religiosity, higher political awareness and participation, and higher frequency of extended family participation”1. This brings upon the question, how has the Covid 19 pandemic which has disrupted the incomes of many particularly women altered their abilities to make their usual donations? We can look towards the Spanish flu, which reported roughly a 10% loss in income, accompanied with an 8% loss of consumption5. Interestingly, the prediction for the decrease in income in 2020 recorded being about 6.7%, however, consumption dropped a startingly 18%. With natural crisis such as pandemics, we can be almost certain that there is a correlation between the decrease in spending as economic 
uncertainty rises​6.  
What do the Charities think? 

Charities are struggling to keep up with the increasing amount of people who are suffering.  What does the pandemic look like from the perspective 
of a President of a CRA registered charity? 

For us here at CFTW, this decrease in funds was seen immediately. Prior to the first shutdown, majority of our revenue came from face-to-face contact, and events. With the pandemic, we have had to increased social media usage, and began interacting more through this 
website. Interestingly, while the number of donors has decreased the size of the average donation has increased. As a charity, it has been difficult 
reaching out to the population size we were able to reach in 2019. Many of our previous donors, chose not to make a returning donation last year. 
This can be associated with economic instability and the fact that people simply have less to give, however, it can also be associated with the idea, 
that just like other business we may have ceased operating too. This is false we are still working tirelessly to meet the increasing demand for help, and to do this we still need donations.

For marginalized children and youth, especially those living with miserable conditions, education is more than just attending lessons. For them, going to school is more like improving health, safety, nutrition, and lifestyle as a whole.

   

David Beasley, WFP Executive Director, says, "In the poorest countries, children often rely on schools for their only meal of the day. But with many schools now closed because of COVID, 370 million children are missing out on these nutritious meals, which are a lifeline for low-income families. They are also being denied the health support they normally get through school. This could do lasting damage, so when schools reopen, it is critical that these meal programs and health services are restored, which can also help draw the most vulnerable children back to school."

COVID-19 has forced the world's learners - over 90% - to stay out of school. 

 

The worst is that nine out of ten of the world's youth live in either developing or under-developed countries. Sadly, where (including India, South Africa, and a few others) opportunities for distance learning are quite limited due to the low caliber or unavailability of internet connections.

Fortunately, or maybe, unfortunately, schools are set to open by this week; in some regions they have resumed already.

 

So, as countries are grappling with when to resume school, the Global Education Coalition (UNESCO, UNICEF, WFP, and World Bank) urges governments and education authorities to consider all the risk factors associated with the reopening of schools.

 

Considering all those factors, a list of precautionary measures will be issued to all schools - to aid in their reopening plans. Adherence to anti-COVID behaviors can reduce the spread of COVID-19.

 

Measures are not for schools only; children and their parents are also requested to cooperate with schools and practice the given instructions.

Some Creative WAYS 

  1. Play games with students or engage in some fun activities, teaching them how to wear a mask.

  2. Art teachers can use some art materials or other creative outlets to make them understand why masks are so important.

  3. Share inspirational stories about masks with students so they know what to expect in social settings like school.

  4. Incorporate short lessons or videos to teach students how to wear a mask properly, using videos with celebrities, musicians, cartoon characters, or other popular personalities.

  5. Engage students in the class, discussing why masks help reduce and control the spread of COVID-19.

Teachers can incorporate a lesson into the science curriculum, explaining how respiratory droplets spread deadly diseases.

SOP's for Kids at School 

  1. Wear masks throughout the day, except if you have severe asthma, breathing difficulties, or any other major disability.

  2. Keep yourself socially distant from others, including teachers, support staff and students. 

  3. Continue good hand hygiene habits - either wash them regularly with water and soap or use the sanitizer to keep them clean and germ-free every time.

Don't share or swap your books, papers, masks, or food and water. 

SOP's for Mothers 

  1. Students with lowered immunity should not be sent to school.

  2. Ensure children wear a mask and remain socially distant from their friends.

  3. Keep a hand sanitizer in your child's pocket and ensure him/her use it often.

  4. Write your child's initials on his/her mask.

  5. Store your child's mask in a designated space, and wash after every day of use or when visibly soiled.

  6. Keep an extra mask in your child's bag.

  7. Adopt a positive attitude: Going back to school should be happy, not threatening. With your attitude, show your kids that there’s no need to worry about it.
